CS39 – Aerial Cutting Of Trees With a Chainsaw Using Free-fall Techniques 002108

This course will suit you if you need to use a chainsaw from a tree, using a rope and harness.

This course can be taken as a combined course with the Tree Climbing and Rescue (CS38) qualification.

Qualification Level?

This is a level 3 qualification

Qualification notes

You must hold the chainsaw maintenance and crosscutting (CS30), felling and processing small trees (CS31) and aerial rescue (CS38) qualifications.


You will be assessed on the following:

  • Preparation of chainsaw.
  • Cold and hot starting techniques.
  • Sending saw aloft.
  • General saw handling.
  • Use of chainsaw from rope and harness to remove medium sized lateral branches.
  • Use of slings.
  • How to free a trapped saw.
  • Target pruning.
Course Length?

Two days training followed by one day individual assessments
